Meet our Staff

Marlene
Founder and owner of Momminia. Marlene is the designer of most of the jewelry pieces in the store. She attended the School of Visual Arts with a full scholarship and started out as a sculptor. As her work progressed it got smaller and smaller. 20 years ago her art evolved into jewelry. Each piece she makes is a unique, wearable sculpture.

Monica
Monica has been with us for so long that we've adopted her. We are confident that our customers love her as much as we do. She is often mistaken for one of the owners many children and grandchildren and that's fine by us. Monica has many non bead related hobbies which help to add greater dimension to the Momminia shopping experience. For example, she sings in the local choir and has always been involved in local politics. Recently, she and her dog Keshi, have been volunteering at the Seaworld Center for Retired Porpoises where Keshi is a therapy dog and Monica is on her way to receiving her certification in Dolphin Training.

Jesse
Jesse doesn't seem to have time to write his own bio. He is a part owner of Momminia and also a designer. His style focuses on large, high quality stones. His necklaces tend to be bold and more geometric than Marlene's. He is not only the son of Marlene and Steve but also the youngest brother of the webmaster. He enjoys long hikes in the woods, spicy food, cats and playing bass guitar.

John
John has been a part of our family since he was four years old. Since he has recently been accused of being one of my many children, I feel confident that I am qualified to write his bio without asking his permission.
He is, like Jesse and Bailey, a musician. He also enjoys hiking and politics and since he is currently pursuing a degree in Comparative Mythology, we expect he will be with us for many years to come. Think about it, we are probably the only retail store in the Hudson Valley where his particular specialization can be put to good use.

Steve
Steve is the owner and boss. His specialty is ancient beads. It's quite possible that he knows everything about them and his favorite thing to do is tell people what he knows. A few of the staff have theorized that he must actually be 5000 years old and personally experienced the bead trade at it's height in order to have the info he posesses. Customers are always welcome to bring their finds in and Steve will tell them what they've got. It's no trouble- at Momminia we all enjoy this. Just make sure you let us know that you're coming because sometimes it's hard to catch him at the store.

Nina & Bailey
This mother/daughter team is only in the store part time but we have complete control over the website. So, when you contact Momminia online, we answer the emails. We also send you pictures, return phone calls and take care of making sure that your order gets mailed out. So - be nice to us.
